We carry a range of high quality, trusted brand name antennas to suit your TV reception requirements. Whether you are after an entry level high-quality antenna installation, Australian made or high gain for outer Metro and Country areas, we have an Antenna to suit all budgets and challenges.
If you are having TV reception problems, we can inspect and provide the correct gear to get your TV’s reception perfect regardless of what suburb you’re in or if your home happens to be in a black spot.

Antenna Direct will come to you and assess the situation first, to ensure only the required parts are replaced to fix your problem ensuring that you’re not spending more money on antennas that you don’t need to accomplish perfect reception.

Our antenna installation
process

  • We test your current antenna infrastructure to fault find.

  • If replacing the antenna, we supply quality equipment with proven performance in Australia.

  • We protect where we are working to avoid damaging your home.

  • We select the best location, based on your closest TV tower.

  • We use high grade brackets and braces to make sure the antenna will stay put no matter what.

  • We leave a beautifully sealed, levelled and sturdy antenna on your roof.

  • We test again and help you set up all of your channels.

We will always provide with at least two choices; the cheapest antenna that will get you a high quality free to air TV reception in normal circumstances or a better quality antenna that will be able to maintain reception quality in poor weather conditions where the cheaper option may lose reception.

How many rooms you will need reception in off the one aerial is also a large consideration in recommending a new TV antenna/aerial for your home. Of course, you’re always given honest and easy to understand advice to guide you towards a solution that is right for you.

    Why choose Antenna Direct Perth?

If you’re seeking reliable, high-quality audio/visual installation services in Perth, Antenna Direct Perth stands out as a top choice for several compelling reasons:

    • Careful and considerate in your home

It’s important to us to leave your home the way you found it. During your antenna installation, we’re extremely careful on your roof and do everything possible to avoid damaging your roof tiles and in the very rare event that we do, we’ll do the right thing and let you know about it.

Antenna Direct Perth will always vacuum or sweep up after any wall drilling or general mess created whilst installing your antenna and its ports. Once we leave, you don’t have to do a thing. Just kick back and enjoy clean and uninterrupted reception.

    • The Perth AV installer of choice

Antenna Direct Perth is an owner-operated business – so the technician you speak to on the phone is the same person who’ll carry out your TV antenna installation.

With expertise in antenna repairs and fault-finding, we don’t just default to replacing your antenna to save time or boost profit. We aim to fix the issue properly the first time – so you won’t need to call us back. But if you ever do, we’ll return and fix the job at no extra cost.

Antenna Direct Perth are also available 7 days a week, meaning you can get everything you need to be done at a time that’s convenient for you without needing to take time off work for installation of your antenna

    • Fully qualified and experienced

Antenna Direct always uses quality products that are either Australian owned and operated companies or is backed by a solid warranty that is valid in Australia.

All our installers have public liability insurance to the amount of $20 million, a certificate or a diploma in Telecommunications, White card and an open Cabler’s Licence with a “C” endorsement.

On top of all of that, you should hear what others say about the provider that you’re about to choose. A simple search on Google for “Antenna Direct” will bring up plenty of 5-star reviews from many of our happy clients.

    • Quality, thoroughly tested and secured

Choosing Antenna Direct is ensuring that the workmanship in your home is to the highest quality standards both structurally and aesthetically.

Other antenna installation companies in Perth will often be cheaper than us, but unfortunately for the consumer we’re not all offering the same products, longevity, signal strength or service levels, so when you get the cheapest quote possible, you’re subsidising that cost in the build quality of the materials as well as the care in the installation process.

We don’t say this to scare anyone or to convince them to go with us over our competitors. We simply see poor quality, Chinese made, antennas on people’s roofs that don’t take long to go faulty or antenna installation jobs that are dodgy and even just plain dangerous.

    Our guarantee

At Antenna Direct Perth, professionalism isn’t just a promise—it’s the foundation of everything we do.

Our work will be performed to the highest possible standard and thoroughly tested before we leave – and in the rare event that there ever is an issue, we’ll be back as a priority to make things right.

Which type of antennas do you install?

The type and specific model of antenna used depends on the application, such as which suburb it is located, which environmental hazards are present, such as moisture/salt in coastal areas, or large birds in rural or bush areas, or weak signal areas.

In general, a log periodic antenna covering Band 3 is used in many suburbs in the Perth metro area, and has been proven to work well over thousands of installs. A UHF Yagi antenna can give better signal quality in some select suburbs.

No specific brand or model is free of potential drawbacks if used for the wrong purpose. As an example, antennas that have been known to give some of the best impact resistance, have also been known to fail prematurely from defects caused by water ingress through plastic housings, while models that are more resistant to water related issues may not have the required impact resistance such as if very large birds exist in the area.

Additionally, depending on the suburb you are located in, a different model or brand may be selected to maximize signal strength and quality. Lastly, statistical reliability is used in part of the decision process. That is, antennas that have been proven to give a decent service life and be free of defects in the past decades, are re-used. We do not use non technical and sentimental factors such as brand name, or country of manufacture in our decision process.

Are there different types of TV antennas?

Yes, over 70 different models distributed throughout Australia.  Generally the differences come from:

      1. Design type, such as Log Periodic, Yagi and phased array
      2. Gain, which often effects the antennas size, mainly in length and number of arms
      3. Frequency band, antennas that are made to pick up VHF bands such as in most urban areas in Perth have larger arms, while antennas made only to pick up UHF bands such as in specific suburbs in Perth, and many rural towns have very short arms

The exact type of antenna and its frequency range covered is chosen based on the area it is intended to be used in, and which tower it is to be tuned to.

Do I need a signal booster for my antenna in Perth?

Probably not.  Signal boosters for their proper purpose, are used to:

      1. Overcome excessive cabling losses that result in a signal strength below the recommended minimum levels set in various standards.
      2. Raise the signal strength to a point where the TV or signal meter is able to lock onto a channel, where no TV reception is possibly by other means

The minimum signal strength required for TV reception varies by standards and reality, depending on a few factors

This required level, as stipulated by Australian Standard – AS/NZS 1367:2016 is a level of 45 dBuV.

ETSI TR 101 190 recommends a minimum level of 48dBuV.

      ITU-R BT.1368-10 recommends a minimum level of 45dBuV.

In most antenna installs completed in Perth, we see many TV tuners are able to process signal strength that is significantly weaker than the minimum limits set in standards and display an uninterrupted picture.  We typically see and expect issues when received signal strength is below 40dBuV, depending on the signal quality.

With consideration to what is observed in standards, and practice, we would consider installing a signal booster when the signal level falls below 50dBuV at the wallpoint.

Signal boosters do have a limited lifetime, periodically fail and cause reception issues in various ways including a sudden total loss of signal.  As such when not needed, signal boosters while increasing signal strength, often make reception more unreliable.

Can you install my antenna inside the roof?

Yes, installing a TV antenna inside the roof is possible, only if the following conditions are met:

      1. The signal strength achieved inside the roof is strong enough when measured
      2. You have a tiled roof
      3. There is no insulation under the tiles

Do you supply HD or HDTV antennas?

There is no such thing, it’s a marketing term.  An antenna is a series of metal elements that receives any signal that is available over the air so long as the signal is strong enough, and the antenna is designed for the frequency of that signal.  What data is transmitted through that signal such as SDTV, HDTV channels, voice or data is irrelevant.  Below is a picture if a piece of scrap copper wire receiving a HDTV channel.
